Diesel locomotives (DLO) have a big job to do, and you want to support them with the right kind of cable. Our diesel locomotive 777 MCM cable offers a powerful transfer of energy within a thick, heat- and water-resistant cable, specifically designed for the jobs of diesel locomotives and other heavy machinery.
ConstructionEPR / CPE insulation, Tinned copper
ApplicationsWhere flexible power leads must be installed in conduit or raceways, Motor leads, Shipyards, Mining and Earth moving equipment, Telecom power supply, Diesel electric locomotives
ApprovalsResists Oil Acids Alkalies Heat and Flame, Sunlight resistant, 2000 Volts, 90C, MSHA, UL, CSA, RoHS
This WesBell DLO cable contains tinned copper strands and is dual insulated with ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) and chlorinated polyethylene (CPE). This double layer of insulation adds protection for severe outdoor conditions, such as in mining and earthmoving equipment installations. It also helps the cable resist oil, acids, alkalies, heat, flame and sunlight for comprehensive protection from the elements.
This cable is rated for 2,000 volts and 904 amps, with a temperature rating of 90 degrees Celsius. The 777 in the name comes from its American Wire Gauge (AWG) rating, while MCM refers to its outer measurement of 1.5 square millimeters. It features one powerful conductor and 1,924 strandings. Even with such a large cable size, the 24-gauge copper strands still offer enough flexibility for power leads in conduit and raceways.
Some of the organizations and directives that have given DLO cable the seal of approval include:
- The CSA Group.
- The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
- The Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive (RoHS).
- UL LLC.
We offer DLO 777 MCM cable by the foot, so you only pay for what you need. Our bulk pricing tiers provide discounts for orders above 100 feet and again at 500 feet.
Applications for DLO 777 MCM Cable
While their primary application is in diesel locomotives, you can also find DLO cables in several other high-powered systems, such as:
- Mining equipment.
- Earthmoving machinery.
- Motor leads.
- Drilling rigs.
- Arc welding.
In all these environments, the cabling must be rugged and powerful, built specifically for rough outdoor conditions. That’s where the DLO 777 cable’s durable build and resistance to abrasion, weather and chemicals come in handy.
