EcoWire®

Alpha products may be subject to minimum order quantities

Many builders, engineers and contractors want to reduce their carbon footprint and work in a more environmentally friendly way. EcoWire® from Alpha Wire presents a solution. This line of hook-up wire uses eco-friendly materials that don’t sacrifice performance. Alpha Wire is also an industry leader that produces products with quality and customer service at the forefront of design. EcoWire® is just one example of the many high-quality products we offer from this manufacturer.

At WesBell Electronics, we carry EcoWire® in a range of sizes to support whatever task is at hand.

What Is EcoWire®?

EcoWire® is a brand from Alpha Wire that’s a true engineering breakthrough in the wire and cable industry. It is specifically designed to be better for the environment. It doesn’t contain any halogens, phthalates or heavy metals, which can be particularly damaging to the environment.

EcoWire® also features versatile modified polyphenylene ether (mPPE) jacketing and insulation. mPPE is recyclable, small and very lightweight, all while delivering exceptional dielectric performance. Conductors are made of stranded or solid tinned copper. This construction helps make the wire up to 45% smaller, 40% lighter and 10 times as abrasion-resistant as conventional polyvinyl chloride (PVC) hook-up wire.

EcoWire® offers similar functionality to typical PVC hook-up wire but improves upon it in many ways. This wire supports up to 600 volts with a temperature rating of -40 to 105 degrees Celsius. We carry EcoWire® in American Wire Gauge (AWG) sizes 28 through size 10 and in a wide range of colors for easy identification. Bulk pricing is also available in larger quantities.

This product has a wide range of approvals from the CSA Group, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) directive. It also meets requirements for the Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). Since it lacks hazardous materials, many companies can use EcoWire® to meet various sustainability goals and help the planet.

EcoWire® vs. EcoWire Plus®

If you’re interested in EcoWire®, you may consider another option from Alpha Wire. EcoWire Plus® is similar to standard EcoWire® with a few important differences.

EcoWire Plus® is only rated for 300 volts, but it has improved fluid resistance to water and other hazardous chemicals such as oils, solvents and fuels. It’s designed for industrial applications with exposure to fluids of any kind and applications needing high abrasion resistance. It meets the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 6722 specification for thin wall and ultra-thin wall wire. Alpha recommends replacing any cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated wire with EcoWire Plus®, which is recyclable, thinner, tougher and even more durable than PVC and XLPE hook-up wire.

If you need high fluid resistance for equipment that won’t demand more than 300 volts, EcoWire Plus® is an excellent choice.
