18 AWG, TYPE E, M16878/4 (E18-19)

WesBell Type E wire is also known as M16878/4 wire and PTFE wire because of its superior polytetrafluoroethylene insulation. This solid 18 American Wire Gauge (AWG) Type E hook-up wire is ideal for indoor and outdoor applications. Type E wire also has increased flexibility, adding to its versatility and range of uses. Because the wire consists of stranded silver-plated copper and durable PTFE insulation, it’s rated for 600 volts and higher-than-normal temperatures of 200 degrees Celsius. Type E wire is commonly used in electrical and electronic applications where high temperature is encountered.

As with Type EE and ET wires, our Type E wire can withstand temperatures as low as -60 degrees C and is resistant to various industrial chemicals. While Type EE wires have the thickest AWG and support up to 1,000 volts and Type ET wires have the thinnest AWG and support 250 volts, our Type E wire is a middle-range electrical wire with a standard AWG and average volt capacity.

While some confuse PTEF Type E wire with standard electrical wire, they consist of different materials and have separate applications. While electrical wire has a moisture-protecting nylon coating, PTEF Type E wires have increased durability and function at extremely high temperatures.
