WesBell MC (Metal Clad) cable is comprised of multiple THHN wires including a green THHN wire used as a ground. WesBell MC 8/2 Cables Construction
The 8/2 MC cable features two conductors with size 19 stranding and a built-in ground wire that meets NEC size specifications. A layer of PVC insulation and thermoplastic high heat nylon (THHN) surrounds the core for extra protection. Its lining is appropriate for installation in residential, industrial and commercial structures and high-heat areas.
We manufacture these cables with a durable aluminum outer shell that helps provide level-two water resistance under THWN standards. This assembly also qualifies for the AA59544 descriptor and achieves fire-spread resistance at FT4/IEEE testing levels. Our MC 8/2 cable also meets UL1569, UL1685 and UL83 requirements.
Applications for Our MC 8/2 Cables
Metal clad assemblies are excellent for establishing service branches and feeders in multi-housing, commercial and industrial settings. You can use them without conduit indoors thanks to the sturdy aluminum shell. They also fish through plaster walls and easily install in cable trays or other raceways. Plus, they meet the environmental requirements for use in air-handling spaces, making them a solid general-purpose choice.
Leave them exposed or conceal them — it’s your choice. Outdoors, pull the cables through conduit for added security and installation ease.
