The Versatile Tray Cable
Tray cables come in many different types and support various forms of work. They feature a stiff copper wire that is nonelastic and non-expandable for easy installation. Copper is one of the most popular materials for underground applications because it effectively minimizes interference.
These cables work in ventilated and non-ventilated applications, as well as wet, dry and moist conditions. With a wide temperature range, this cable works well in many different environments.
This 8/4 tray cable is often used to supply power to motors or for connection to other power devices in industrial settings. It is typically installed in tray and raceways but can also be installed as a direct-burial cable without the use of conduit or tray.
WesBell’s thermoplastic high heat-resistant, nylon-coated (THHN) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tray cable starts with the smallest size — this 8 American Wire Gauge (AWG) cable. It features four conductors, a THHN insulation and a black PVC jacket. It is stranded, with a grounding wire and a diameter of .685 square millimeters. As for power capabilities, this cable supports 50 amps and 300 volts.
